Mazatlan Seafood, fresh and inexpensive

Seafood, Mariscos, is everywhere in Mazatlan, from small seafood stands to fine restaurants.

Mazatlan is home to the world's largest shrimp fleet, so expect to see lots of shrimp on Mazatlan seafood restaurant menus. In addition, local fishermen bring in a fresh catch of other seafood each morning, everything from clams and oysters to Marlin. Listed here are a few local favorates.

Oysters opened when ordered, fresh that morning from the sea. Shrimp for sale on the street... buy a kilo and take them around the corner to Mariscos Dunia and they'll cook them 'El Gusto' the way you choose.

Bahía Mariscos, Mariano Escobedo 203. Upscale dining in a historic early 20th century townhouse near Olas Altas beach. An extensive seafood menu.

Los Liguillas, Carnival & Angel Flores. A seafood stand regarded by locals as the best in town. Open since the 50's this spot features raw clams, oysters and other shellfish. Try the crab tostade!

Mamucas, Guillermo Nelson just south of 16 de Septiembre. Probably the most famous seafood restaurant in Mazatlan going back to the 40s. Popular lunchtime spot but open for dinner too. Mamucas is now showing its age but the the food is still excellent and the selection extensive.

Mariscos Toño


Mariscos Chon, 1508 Carnival. Open since 1946 this old seafood restaurant remains one of the favorites with locals. Closed Mondays.

Mariscos Toño, Guilermo Nelson and 16 de Septiembre. One of the best street food stands in El Centro. Oysters, clams, shrimp and seafood cocktails. One of the few street stands serving beer. Open for lunch till around 6pm.

Mariscos Dunia, 711 Vicente Guerrero. Bring your own shrimp? Yep, the shrimp market is around the corner, buy whatever you like and take it here, where they'll cook them the way you like, Ranchero, Mojo de Ajo. Full bar.

La Puntilla, Playa Sur. This open air restaurant is packed daily with locals. Located on the waterfront near the port it's  about as far as anyone can get from the tourist areas but if you're staying in El Centro it's a few minutes in a taxi. Huge selection of seafood.
